Riccardo Villicich is an Associate Professor at the University of Parma, Department of Humanities, Social Sciences and Cultural Enterprises. He earned degrees from the University of Bologna in Ancient History, Archaeology, and Classical Studies. His career includes research fellowships and adjunct professorships at Bologna, followed by leadership roles in major excavation projects.

His research focuses on Greek/Roman architecture, late antique palatial structures, and archaeological methodology. Key contributions include the excavation of the Phoinike theater in Albania, Theodoric's villa in Italy, and the Fiumana palatium. Recent work emphasizes Roman urbanism in the Cisalpine region and innovative excavation techniques.
Recent publications address late antique architecture (2025 monograph), 5th-century imperial court buildings (2024 studies), and Hellenistic theater construction methods (2018–2024). Collaborative works with Alessia Morigi and others document technological integration in excavation processes.
Professor Villicich teaches courses in archaeological documentation, research methodology, and field techniques at the University of Parma. Office hours available Tuesday–Thursday, 9:00–12:30.
