Riad Salem, MD, is a Professor in Radiology (Vascular and Interventional Radiology), Medicine (Hematology and Oncology), and Surgery (Organ Transplantation) at Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine. He serves as Vice Chair for Image-Guided Therapy in the Department of Radiology. His expertise includes interventional oncology, liver-directed therapies, and minimally invasive treatments for cancer and vascular disorders. Salem holds an MD from McGill University (1993) and an MBA from George Washington University (1998). He completed residencies at Georgetown University Hospital and fellowships at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
His research focuses on radioembolization for colorectal and hepatocellular carcinoma, radiation segmentectomy, and innovative therapies for liver tumors. He leads clinical trials such as EMERALD-Y90 and FRONTIER, exploring combinations of radioembolization with immunotherapy. Salem is certified in Interventional and Diagnostic Radiology by the American Board of Radiology.
