Ria Lonsdale is a Senior Lecturer in Occupational Therapy at Teesside University's School of Health and Life Sciences. With 16 years of clinical experience in spinal injuries, stroke rehabilitation, and community mental health, she leads the BSc Occupational Therapy Apprenticeship program. Her research focuses on Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS), particularly rehabilitation approaches and healthcare access barriers for affected individuals.
She teaches across BSc, MSc, and foundation degree programs, supervises postgraduate students, and serves on the school's Equality and Inclusion committee. Her CPD activities include systematic review workshops and decolonizing pedagogy training.
Lonsdale maintains registration with the Health and Care Professions Council and is a lifelong member of the Royal College of Occupational Therapy. She was nominated for Teesside University's 2024 STAR Award for Excellence in Teaching.
