Reva Jaffe-Walter is an Associate Professor in the Department of Educational Foundations at Montclair State University's College for Education and Engaged Learning. Her research employs educational anthropology to examine how schools create opportunities for immigrant youth in the US and Europe. She investigates educational resource access, belonging/marginalization dynamics, post-secondary transitions, and resistance to nationalist/neoliberal policies in school settings.
Research Focus:
- Amplifying youth voices to understand transnational belonging and counter-narratives to racialization
- Developing qualitative methodologies for studying lived experiences of educational desire
- Specializations: Immigration schooling, policy anthropology, ethnography, and action research
Grant Project: Co-investigator for the William T. Grant Foundation study "Reducing educational inequities experienced by immigrant youth," using mixed methods to analyze NYC International Network schools' impact on academic outcomes and identify best practices.
