Reuben Arasaratnam

Reuben Arasaratnam, M.D., M.P.H., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center and a member of the Division of Infectious Diseases and Geographic Medicine. He joined the faculty in 2017 and is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in internal medicine and infectious diseases. His roles include supporting educational activities at the Dallas VA Medical Center and providing clinical care for veterans.

Education:

• M.D. from the University of Oxford Medical School (with honors)
• Internal Medicine residency at Oxford University Hospitals
• Internal Medicine training at University of North Carolina
• Infectious Diseases fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine
• M.P.H. from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health

Research & Clinical Interests: Dr. Arasaratnam focuses on translational viral immunology, including T cell immunity in pediatric solid organ transplant recipients and Parainfluenza virus targets. Clinically, he specializes in infectious disease care for immunocompromised patients, viral infections, vaccinations, and non-tuberculous mycobacterial infections.

Education & Leadership: As Assistant to the Medical Services Chief for Education at the Dallas VA, he prioritizes clinical reasoning, faculty development, and inclusive learning environments. He actively contributes to UT Southwestern’s Internal Medicine Teaching Service.
