He holds academic roles spanning 30+ years, including teaching Biopharmaceutics, Pharmacokinetics, and Pharmaceutical Technology at both undergraduate and graduate levels. His research focuses on gastrointestinal physiology, luminal drug performance, and in vitro testing methodologies. He has served on doctoral evaluation committees in multiple countries and contributed to editorial boards of high-impact journals. Notably, he was a Visiting Professor at Goethe University (2010–2018) and led initiatives like the UNGAP and OrBiTo collaborations for advancing drug absorption science. His work bridges academia and industry, emphasizing translational research in pediatric drug development and food-drug interactions.
Education:
- Pharmacy Degree, NKUA (1982)
- PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences (1986), NKUA
- Post-Doctoral Training, University of Michigan (1990)
Research Interests: Dr. Reppas investigates the human gastrointestinal luminal environment, formulation effects on drug performance, and predictive in vitro models. His work addresses challenges in biopharmaceutics, including pediatric drug delivery, food effects, and luminal precipitation. He has pioneered methodologies like the BioGIT system for simulating drug exposure and contributed to UNGAP’s guidelines on gastrointestinal variability.
Publications & Awards: With over 100 peer-reviewed articles, he is recognized for reviews on drug absorption, formulation optimization, and regulatory frameworks. His honors include co-editing special journal issues and serving as an external evaluator for academic promotions in Ireland.
Labs & Teams: He leads the Pharmaceutical Technology Section at NKUA, collaborating with global networks like IMI OrBiTo to advance oral drug delivery science.
