Renée Adams is a Professor of Finance and Senior Research Fellow at the Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, and a Fellow of Jesus College. Her academic background includes a PhD in Economics from the University of Chicago, an M.S. in Mathematics from Stanford University, and a B.A. in Mathematics from UC San Diego.
Her research focuses on corporate governance, gender diversity, and decision-making dynamics, blending economics, finance, management, and psychology. She co-founded AFFECT (American Finance Association’s Academic Female Finance Committee) and chairs its initiatives. Awards include the 2019 HEC Lausanne Female Career Award for her contributions to corporate and bank governance research.
Teaching includes DPhil courses on empirical corporate finance and research methods, as well as MBA/master’s modules in corporate finance and valuation. She also teaches Economics and Management, and Politics, Philosophy, and Economics (PPE) at Jesus College.
Adams holds adjunct/visiting roles at institutions like Aalto University (Distinguished Visiting Professor, 2019-2022) and Goethe University (Senior Fellow, 2019-2020). Her non-academic pursuits include art, drumming, tap dancing, and exploring the intersection of art and science through comic-making.
