Renita Almeida serves as a Senior Lecturer in the School of Psychology at Murdoch University, where she is a Clinical Psychologist with endorsed practice registration through the Psychology Board of Australia. Her distinguished academic background includes a PhD with Distinction from the University of Western Australia, recognized with the national Excellent PhD Thesis in Psychology prize by the Australian Psychological Society.
Her educational credentials feature a Master of Clinical Psychology and Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Psychology from the University of Western Australia, complemented by advanced family therapy training at New York's Ackerman Institute for the Family. Clinical experience spans metropolitan and rural settings across Western Australia's Department of Corrective Services, Child Protection and Family Support, and Department of Health, including roles as Consultant Clinical Psychology Director at KEMH.
Research focuses on perinatal/infant mental health, child development, trauma, and attachment-based parenting programs, with current clinical studies evaluating family interventions. She directs the Murdoch Psychology Child and Family Clinic while leading the Masters in Applied Psychology (Professional) program as Academic Chair.
