Renee Zucchero

Dr. Renee Zucchero is a Professor at the School of Psychology at Xavier University. A proud alumna, she earned her Bachelor’s (1991) and Master’s (1993) degrees in psychology at Xavier before completing her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology with a specialization in Gerontology at Ball State University (1998). She joined Xavier as a Staff Psychologist at the Counseling Center in 2002 and transitioned to faculty in 2005.

Dr. Zucchero specializes in geropsychology, focusing on healthy aging and psychosocial oncology. Her research explores health issues in geropsychology, caregiver burnout, and memory stereotype threats in older adults. She also emphasizes service-learning and interprofessional education in her work.

Her teaching portfolio includes undergraduate courses in Developmental Psychology, Psychology of Aging, and General Psychology, as well as graduate-level courses on Health Issues in Geropsychology and Intervention for Older Adults.

Dr. Zucchero chairs Psy.D. dissertations on topics such as nurses’ professional quality of life, depression in multiple myeloma patients, and memory self-efficacy in older adults.
