Cheryl Anagnopoulos is a Professor of Psychology and Chair of the School of Behavioral Sciences within the College of Natural & Behavioral Sciences at Black Hills State University, where she has taught since 1993.
Her educational background includes:
- Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Chicago (1988)
- Master's degree in Experimental Psychology from the University of Kansas (1991)
- Doctoral degree in Experimental Psychology from the University of Kansas (1993)
Dr. Anagnopoulos specializes in cognitive aging research, focusing on memory-language interactions in older adults. Her work investigates age-related word retrieval difficulties, compensation strategies for memory loss, and validation of memory assessment tools for elderly populations. This research bridges cognitive psychology, gerontology, and neurolinguistics, emphasizing practical applications for aging populations.
She teaches core and specialized courses including Lifespan Psychology, Psychology of Adolescence, Gerontological Psychology, Psychology of Women, General Psychology, Seminar in Psychology, and Cognitive Psychology. Her research program actively involves undergraduate students in experimental design and data collection, fostering hands-on research experience in cognitive aging studies.
