Renato Gonnelli

Renato Gonnelli is a Full Professor at the Department of Applied Science and Technology (DISAT) of the Polytechnic University of Turin, where he has been a member of the Doctoral College in Physics since 2003. He leads the TEST-SQUAD research group within DISAT and operates three specialized laboratories: LaTEST1 (Electrical Transport, Tunnel & Point-Contact Spectroscopy), LaTEST2 (Low-Temperature Field Effect), and LaTEST3 (Electrochemical Gating & SPM Preparation). His work focuses on 2D materials, unconventional superconductors, and field-effect protonation techniques.

• Teaching: PhD courses in Scanning Probe Microscopy (2019–2025), Advanced Experimental Physics (2019–2025), and undergraduate courses in Solid-State Physics & Nanoscience Technologies
• Research: 2D quantum materials, Fe-based superconductors, and ionic gating mechanisms

His recent publications analyze hydrogen-induced superconductivity in 2D systems and point-contact spectroscopy models. He has secured multiple PRIN national grants for superconductivity research and holds the 2013 National Scientific Qualification from MIUR. Professor Gonnelli mentors PhD candidate Gaia Gavello and contributes to biomedical engineering through the PolitoBIOMed Lab.
