معرفی
Marta Tuninetti is a fixed-term researcher at the Department of Environmental, Land, and Infrastructure Engineering (DIATI) at the Polytechnic University of Turin, where she contributes to research and teaching in hydrology, water footprint, and climate change adaptation. She is actively involved in doctoral education and supervises multiple PhD students. Her affiliations include the College of Environmental and Land Engineering and participation in the Doctoral College of Civil and Environmental Engineering.
Her research focuses on water footprint assessment, virtual water trade, climate change adaptation, and sustainable water use in agriculture. She integrates socio-hydrological systems, land-atmosphere interactions, and the Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystem Nexus into her work, aligning with UN SDGs such as Clean Water, Responsible Consumption, and Climate Action. Her projects include SPHERE (funded by PRIN) and consultancy roles with the Compagnia di San Paolo.
The recent publications reflect a strong trend in hydrological modeling, atmospheric moisture tracking, and sustainable agricultural systems. Her work advances the water footprint indicator by incorporating land-atmosphere dynamics and quantifying invisible water flows in global food systems. There is a clear emphasis on data-driven environmental assessment and policy-relevant research.
Her scientific contributions are recognized through publications in journals like Scientific Data, Environmental Research Letters, and Communications Earth & Environment.
- Scientific Manager, SPHERE Project (2023–2025)
- Scientific Manager, Compagnia di San Paolo Consultancy (2022–2024)
- Researcher, Blue Communities Project (2023–2024)
She advises PhD students including Elena De Petrillo, Vittorio Giordano, Nike Chiesa Turiano, and Francesco Semeria, guiding research on water footprint, food waste, and climate resilience. She contributes to teaching in courses such as Hydrology, Sustainable Water Use in Agriculture, and Climate Crisis and Cognitive Biases across multiple engineering programs.
She is a member of the research group focused on Hydrology and Hydraulic Constructions (DIATI), which conducts interdisciplinary research on water resources, climate impacts, and sustainable infrastructure. The team collaborates on projects involving data visualization, policy support, and international water trade dynamics.
