Matteo Bernard Bertagni

Matteo Bernard Bertagni serves as a Fixed-term tenure-track Assistant Professor in the Department of Environmental, Land and Infrastructure Engineering (DIATI) at Polytechnic University of Turin. Previously a postdoctoral researcher at Princeton University's Carbon Mitigation Initiative (2020-2024), he brings international expertise from visiting positions at the University of Toronto, University of Edinburgh, and École Centrale de Lyon.

His research integrates biogeochemistry, climate change mitigation, and environmental fluid dynamics with focus areas including enhanced weathering for carbon capture, hydrogen/ammonia economies, and water-driven pattern formation. Current investigations address critical intersections of hydrology, atmospheric chemistry, and sustainable energy systems through both theoretical modeling and field applications.

Recent publications (2016-2024) reveal a consistent trajectory toward climate solution engineering, particularly in carbon-negative technologies and low-carbon fuel assessment. Key themes include methane risks in hydrogen economies, water footprint quantification, and nano-to-global scale modeling of enhanced weathering processes - demonstrating interdisciplinary rigor across environmental science, fluid mechanics, and climate policy.
