Renate Freericks

Prof. Dr. Renate Freericks serves as Professor at Bremen University of Applied Sciences, Head of the International Applied Leisure Studies BA program, Deputy Chair of the Examination Board for Applied Leisure Science, and Chairwoman of the Institute for Leisure Studies and Cultural Work (IFKA). Her institutional leadership extends to co-editing the IFKA publication series and Spektrum Freizeit journal.

Her research pioneers digital transformation in leisure contexts through innovative didactic frameworks, with core expertise in informal education systems, time competence analysis, and socio-cultural participation models. Current investigations examine digitalization's impact on tourism infrastructure, wellness ecosystems, and volunteer engagement dynamics within evolving leisure landscapes.
