Remco Zwinkels is a Full Professor of International Finance and Head of the Finance Department at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU Amsterdam). Previously, he served as Assistant Professor and Head of the Finance Group at Erasmus School of Economics. He holds a MSc in Monetary Economics (Erasmus University), MPhil in Economics (Tinbergen Institute), and PhD in Economics (Radboud University Nijmegen). His research focuses on behavioral finance, particularly expectation formation, and he has conducted visiting scholar work at the University of Technology Sydney and Auckland University of Technology.
He is an Associate Editor of the Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization, co-organizer of the bi-annual Research in Behavioral Finance Conference, and actively involved in projects like Climate Change and Financial Markets as Principal Investigator. His teaching includes courses on Sustainable Finance, Master Thesis Guidance (VU), and Behavioral Finance (Tinbergen Institute PhD program).
Key contributions include work on investor sentiment, agent-based models, and climate risk measures like Carbon Beta. He has won the SBE Senior Teaching Award (2020) and contributes to media commentary on financial markets. Ancillary activities include governance roles at Stichting Schuurman Schimmel Van Outeren since 2018.
