Reinier Kramer is an Assistant Professor (Ricercatore a tempo determinato tenure track) at the Università degli Studi di Milano-Bicocca, affiliated with the mathematical physics group within the Dipartimento di Matematica e Applicazioni. He holds a PhD in Geometry and Mathematical Physics from the University of Amsterdam (2019), followed by postdoctoral positions at the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in Bonn (2019–2021) and the University of Alberta (2021–2024), supported by a PIMS postdoctoral fellowship.
His research focuses on algebraic geometry, combinatorics, and mathematical physics, with a particular emphasis on Hurwitz numbers, topological recursion, and cohomological field theories. Kramer has organized seminars such as the 'Aspects of Physical Mathematics' at the University of Alberta and a reading group on intersection theory at the Max Planck Institute.
His work bridges geometric and combinatorial structures, with applications in quantum theory and differential geometry. Recent publications explore topics like the spin Gromov-Witten/Hurwitz correspondence and the KP hierarchy for Hurwitz-type theories. Key contributions include proofs of conjectures related to ELSV formulas and monotone orbifold Hurwitz numbers.
Advising and collaboration activities include working with co-authors like Gaëtan Borot and Vincent Bouchard. His academic presence is further reflected through platforms like MathSciNet, zbMATH, and arXiv.
