Reinhold Friedrich is a Professor at the University of Music Karlsruhe, specializing in trumpet performance within the Winds and Percussion Instruments Department. He is a globally renowned trumpet soloist, having held the position of permanent principal trumpet of the Lucerne Festival Orchestra since its founding in 2003 and serving as artistic director of its Brass Ensemble. His career spans performances at major international venues, including the Berliner Festwochen, Musikverein Vienna, and collaborations with elite orchestras and conductors such as Claudio Abbado and Sir András Schiff.
His research interests and performance repertoire bridge historical and contemporary music. He is celebrated for expertise in historical instruments through collaborations with ensembles like Capriccio Basel and l'Orchestre des Champs-Élysées, while also premiering works by modern composers like Wolfgang Rihm and Rebecca Saunders. His chamber music partnerships include Eriko Takezawa, Robyn Schulkowsky, and Claudio Bohórquez.
