Reinhard Hendler

Reinhard Hendler is a distinguished Professor of Public Law at the Faculty of Law, University of Trier, where he has served since 1999. He directs the Institute for Environmental and Technology Law and co-edits the Journal for State and Municipal Law for Hesse/Rhineland-Palatinate/Saarland (LKRZ). His academic journey includes professorships at the Universities of Konstanz (1984-1988), Marburg (1988-1994), and Regensburg (1994-1999).

Hendler's research focuses on constitutional and administrative law, particularly structures of political decision-making and decision-making (democracy, federalism, self-government, participation), environmental law, and building and spatial planning law. His scholarly work demonstrates a consistent interest in the relationship between environmental protection and legal frameworks, with increasing attention to renewable energy regulation in his later publications.
