Dr. Reina Ichii is a Lecturer at the School of Global, Urban and Social Studies (GUSS) at RMIT University, Australia. Her research focuses on feminist economics, gender-responsive budgeting, development economics, and public policy. She has supervised multiple PhD/Masters projects on topics including urban poor communities in West Africa, forest tenure systems in Vietnam, climate change adaptation in Cambodia, and the socio-economic impacts of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). Dr. Ichii’s work emphasizes gender equality, sustainable development goals, and community-driven solutions to global challenges. She has published extensively on gender budgeting in East Asia, international trade impacts, and education policy frameworks, with notable contributions to Springer and Yuhikaku publications. Her teaching interests span feminist economic theory, public finance, and time-use research methodologies.
Her recent projects include analyzing the gendered vulnerabilities of Tonle Sap riverine communities in Cambodia and evaluating the role of local governance in resolving CPEC-related disputes in Pakistan. Dr. Ichii has collaborated with UNESCO on gender equality in education and contributed to the Australian Work and Life Index. She holds an ORCID identifier (0000-0003-0082-0546) and is actively involved in supervising research on international development finance and pro-poor policy initiatives.
