Reid Van Lehn is an Associate Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, holding the Hunt-Hougen Associate Professorship in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering and an associate appointment in the Department of Chemistry. His research bridges computational methods and experimental validation to address challenges in plastic recycling, nanomaterial-biomembrane interactions, and solvent-based separation processes.
- Education: B.S. and Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from MIT; postdoctoral work under Prof. Tom F. Miller III at Caltech.
Van Lehn’s research focuses on solvent-based recycling technologies, molecular dynamics simulations, and machine learning-driven discovery. His recent work explores lignin-surface interactions, green solvent screening, and the design of antifungal peptides. Publications highlight interdisciplinary approaches combining materials science, chemical engineering, and computational modeling.
His 15 most recent articles span plastic recycling, biomembrane interactions, and green chemistry applications. Notable subfields include nanoparticle adsorption mechanisms, solubility prediction frameworks, and electrolyte effects in catalysis.
