Reham Elwakil is a Design Fellow and researcher at the University of Cambridge's Department of Architecture. She holds an MPhil in Architecture and Urban Design from the same institution. Her work bridges academic research and design practice, focusing on circular economies, maker ecosystems, displacement dynamics, and postcolonial urban frameworks. She actively contributes to the Pop-Machina and Decolonising Architecture research initiatives.
Her research explores intersections between urban resilience, community-driven development, and contested spatial narratives. Current projects address how marginalized communities negotiate return and belonging in conflict-affected regions, alongside innovative material practices in sustainable urbanism.
Elwakil teaches design studios and MArch programs, emphasizing critical spatial praxis. She is affiliated with the Department's research groups on community design and sustainable architecture. Her work engages with global case studies, blending theoretical analysis with participatory design methods.
