Regina Nuzzo is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Statistics at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech). She also serves as a Senior Advisor for Statistics Communication and Media Innovation at the American Statistical Association (ASA), focusing on enhancing communication skills among statisticians and fostering collaboration with journalists. Previously, she was a Professor in the Department of Science, Mathematics & Technology at Gallaudet University, where she taught statistics to undergraduate and graduate students.
She holds a Ph.D. in Statistics from Stanford University (2003), a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from the University of South Florida (1996), and a Graduate Certificate in Science Writing from the University of California Santa Cruz (2004).
Her research and professional interests include statistics communication, data literacy, and translating complex scientific concepts for public audiences. She writes extensively for publications such as Scientific American, New Scientist, Nature, and the New York Times, covering topics like health, medicine, and data-driven science.
