معرفی
Regina Mertz is the Head of the LA-ICP-MS Laboratory at the Institute of Geosciences, Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz. She holds a PhD in Geosciences and specializes in trace element and isotope analysis using laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS). Her work focuses on paleoenvironmental reconstruction, neotectonics, archaeology, and climate variability studies.
Professional background includes postdoctoral research at the Berkeley Geochronology Center (2011–2012) and the Max Planck Institute for Chemistry (2009–2011), where she developed analytical methods for U-Th-Pb dating and carbonate characterization. She has also held research positions at the University of Leipzig and the University of Mainz since 2006.
Education: PhD (2009) from Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, supervised by Prof. Dr. Thomas C. Brachert; Diplom in Geology & Paleontology (2006) from Mainz; Pre-diplom from University of Stuttgart (1994).
Technical expertise includes operating quadrupole ICP-MS systems (e.g., Agilent 7500ce) and excimer lasers, with proficiency in cleanroom analytics and reference material characterization.
