Rebekah Whitaker

Rebekah Whitaker is an Associate Professor of Communication Arts and Director for Debate at Union University. She has been with the institution since 2019, coordinating the Communication Studies program. Her academic background includes a Ph.D. from Louisiana State University, an M.A. from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, and a B.A. from the University of Arkansas at Monticello.

Whitaker's research emphasizes the integration of interpersonal and organizational communication with pedagogical strategies. She actively contributes to scholarly discourse through presentations at conferences like the National Communication Association (NCA) and International Communication Association (ICA), focusing on innovative teaching methods and communication within family and social contexts. Her work explores topics such as stress reduction in academic settings, argumentation techniques, and the impact of communication on divorce perceptions.

As director of debate, she mentors students in argumentation and public speaking. She is affiliated with Calvary Baptist Church and enjoys hobbies like travel, cooking, and family activities.
