Dr. Rebecca Wright is the Druckenmiller Professor of Computer Science and Director of the Vagelos Computational Science Center at Barnard College, Columbia University. She is a DSI Member and serves as Cybersecurity Co-Chair and Education Affiliated Member in various centers. Prior to Barnard, she held professorial roles at Rutgers University and Stevens Institute of Technology, and was a researcher at AT&T Labs and AT&T Bell Labs.
Her research centers on information security, with deep expertise in cryptography, privacy, foundations of computer security, and fault-tolerant distributed computing. Recent work includes accountability, differential privacy, privacy-preserving data mining, and secure multiparty approximations. Her long-term goals involve designing systems resilient to malicious behavior while balancing privacy and public safety.
Dr. Wright has held significant editorial and leadership roles, including Program Chair of Financial Cryptography 2003 and ACM CCS 2006, General Chair of Crypto 2002, and service on program committees for Crypto, SIGKDD, and Usenix Security. She is an editor for the International Journal of Information and Computer Security and Transactions on Data Privacy, and previously served on the Journal of Computer Security.
