Rebecca Weiss is an Associate Professor of Forensic Assessment at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, CUNY, and a licensed clinical psychologist in New York. She holds a BA in Psychology & International Studies from Northwestern University, and MA and PhD in Clinical Psychology from Fordham University. Her clinical training includes work at Yale University School of Medicine.
Her research focuses on cultural and trauma impacts on psychological assessment validity, forensic evaluations, and bilingual mental health assessment. She teaches courses like Personality Assessment (doctoral level), Psychology & Law, and Abnormal Psychology. Dr. Weiss mentors through the McNair and Honors programs, winning multiple mentoring awards (2016–2023). Her lab engages students in collaborative research, with presentations at 5–8 annual conferences.
Key collaborations include work with Kirby Psychiatric Center on forensic measures and equity in school-based mental health. Recent articles address performance validity testing in bilingual patients and racial disparities in competency evaluations. She emphasizes cultural competence in forensic psychology.
