Dr Rebecca Vine is an Associate Research Fellow at the Science Policy Research Unit (SPRU) within the University of Sussex Business School. She holds a PhD in Technology and Innovation Management (2018) and has extensive industry experience in management accounting, including roles at Andersen Consulting and executive training for UK government departments. Her research focuses on management control systems, governance of risk in large-scale infrastructure projects, and innovation policy, with a particular emphasis on 'intelligent client' capabilities and governance reform in megaprojects. She contributed to the ESRC-funded Project X initiative (2019–2021), examining performance management in government projects, and was awarded a university-level prize for her research impact in 2022.
Education: PhD (Sussex), MBA (Distinction), BA in Economics and Accounting (Leeds). Professional qualifications include Chartered Management Accountant (CIMA). Teaching roles included convening courses on accounting, management, and organizational studies at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. She supervised two PhD students to completion (2024).
Research highlights include a doctoral study of risk-control innovations at Heathrow Airport terminals and interdisciplinary work on governance capabilities in infrastructure projects. Her recent publications explore megaproject delivery dynamics and the role of calculative infrastructures in organizational learning. She remains active in professional communities, including the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and the Cuckmere Community Solar Company board.
