Rebecca Troxler is an Associate Professor of the Practice Emerita of Music at Duke University's Trinity College of Arts & Sciences. She has held academic roles since 1986, progressing from Artist in Residence (1986–1994) to Assistant Professor of the Practice (1994–1998), then Associate Professor of the Practice (1998–2017), and finally Emerita status from 2017. Her work focuses on classical flute performance, particularly Baroque-era compositions and the works of Bach's descendants. She holds degrees from The Juilliard School: a Bachelor of Music (1973) and Master of Music (1974).
Troxler is renowned for her performances of chamber music and solo recitals, including a notable boxed set of CDs featuring flute music by the sons of J.S. Bach, slated for release on the Albany label. Her artistic works span decades, with performances documented from 1981 to 2007, highlighting collaborations with institutions like Elon University and Duke Gardens. She has also delivered masterclasses at universities such as the University of Houston and UNC-Wilmington.
Her contributions to music education and performance have been recognized, including a CD review published in 2014 that highlighted her exploration of lesser-known Bach compositions.
