Christopher Dillon serves as Lecturer in Piano and Theory at Towson University's Department of Music within the College of Fine Arts and Communication. He has held this position since 2003 while also teaching previously at the Peabody Conservatory from 1999 to 2003.
His educational background includes studies at the Eastman School of Music, Oberlin Conservatory, and Peabody Institute, where he earned his Doctorate in Music in 2002 under Julian Martin, Ellen Mack, and Robert McDonald. His performance career began with a debut at age 17 with the San Luis Obispo County Symphony.
Dr. Dillon's research focuses on J.S. Bach and Alexander Scriabin, featuring complete performances of Bach's Well-Tempered Clavier Volume 2 from memory and specialized recitals of Scriabin sonatas. His scholarly work includes a lecture-recital exploring synaesthesia in Scriabin's late compositions, demonstrating interdisciplinary connections between music and sensory perception.
As an active adjudicator, he has served for the International Young Artist Piano Competition in Towson and Texas State University San Marcos' Young Artist Piano Competition, contributing to competitive music education at national levels.
