Dr. Rebecca Toothaker is the Director of the Nursing Living Learning Community and a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of West Florida's School of Nursing (College of Health). With 27 years of nursing experience and 17 years in academia, she bridges clinical practice and education. She holds a PhD from the University of Phoenix, alongside a BSN, MSN, and nursing diploma from Kutztown University and the University of Phoenix. Her research focuses on nursing pedagogy, student experiences in traditional educational methods, and the impact of mentoring on nursing students' professional growth. She actively contributes to professional organizations like Sigma Theta Tau International, the American Nurses Association, and the National League for Nursing.
Her clinical background spans interventional radiology, intensive care, and surgical services management. Academically, she teaches across undergraduate, RN/BSN, MSN, and DNP programs. Current research explores 'safe transitions to practice' and mentoring's role in nursing education. She is based at Building 37, Room 100, on the Pensacola campus.
