Lora Walter

Lora Walter, DNP, MSN, RN is an Associate Professor of Nursing at Chatham University's College of Health Sciences. She joined Chatham in 2013 and teaches across multiple nursing programs including RN-BSN, MSN, and DNP. Dr. Walter also coordinates the RN-BSN Program and Pathways to Nursing, demonstrating her leadership in nursing education.

Dr. Walter earned her academic credentials from Chatham University, completing her DNP in 2018, MSN in 2013, and BSN in 2011. Her professional background includes 8 years of experience working in a level III neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), which informs her teaching and research perspective.

Dr. Walter's scholarly agenda focuses on student-centered pedagogies and effective academic advising strategies. Her research examines how technological innovations can enhance nursing education and improve student engagement. She has developed innovative teaching methods that incorporate music, storytelling, and virtual platforms to create more engaging learning experiences for nursing students.

Her recent publications demonstrate consistent trends in virtual learning environments, student engagement strategies, and innovative teaching methodologies in nursing education. Many of her recent works address adapting to challenges of online education, particularly during the pandemic.

Dr. Walter has advised numerous nursing students through their academic journey, particularly in the RN-BSN program which she coordinates. She has presented her work at numerous national conferences including the Online Learning Consortium, National League of Nursing Education Summit, and American Association of Colleges of Nursing conferences.

As a member of Sigma Theta Tau International (Chi Zeta Chapter) and the National League of Nursing, Dr. Walter actively contributes to the broader nursing education community. Her Neonatal Intensive Care Certification reflects her clinical expertise which she integrates into her teaching practice.
