معرفی
Rebecca T Kimball is a Professor in the Department of Biology at the University of Florida, affiliated with the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of New Mexico (1995). Her research focuses on evolutionary biology, integrating molecular and field-based approaches to study evolutionary patterns, phylogenetic relationships, and the genomic basis of organismal traits. Key areas include galliform evolution, sensory system evolution, avian phylogenetics, and speciation processes.
She has mentored numerous graduate students (e.g., Kin Han, Joni Wright), postdocs, and undergraduates (e.g., Reid Green, Carly Ferguson), and leads the Braun-Kimball Lab. Current projects involve Galliform evolution using ultraconserved elements, avian phylogenomics, and the evolutionary dynamics of visual/chemoreceptor systems. Her work spans field studies, genomic analyses, and collaborative projects with institutions like the Field Museum of Natural History.
Publications highlight advancements in phylogenetic methods, avian systematics, and the genetic basis of adaptive traits. Notable contributions include resolving Galliform phylogenies and elucidating mechanisms of trait evolution. Her research emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches to understand evolutionary processes at genomic, organismal, and ecological levels.
