Dr Rebecca Stringwell serves as the Deputy Manager of the Center for Sustainable Aquatic Research (CSAR) and holds dual roles as the Faculty of Science and Engineering's research ethics manager and deputy chair of the Faculty of Science and Engineering's research ethics committee at Swansea University. She is affiliated with the School of Biosciences, Geography and Physics within the Faculty of Science and Engineering.
Her research expertise centers on animal welfare in aquatic environments, with specialized knowledge in:
- Animal welfare standards
- Aquaculture systems
- Aquatic animal husbandry protocols
- Aquatic animal research models
- Ethical review processes
- Compliance with Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986
Dr Stringwell oversees facility operations, aquatic animal welfare, and daily husbandry while supporting undergraduate and postgraduate students with research projects involving live animals. She ensures adherence to ethical standards throughout the research process.
She maintains active committee memberships including the Faculties Research Ethics Committee, the University's Research Integrity, Ethics and Governance Committee, and the Animal Welfare Ethical Review Body (AWERB), where she contributes to institutional research governance.
