Rebecca Smith serves as Assistant Professor of Speech-Language Pathology and Clinical Director of the William B. Dean Center for Language and Literacy Development within ETBU's School of Communication and Performing Arts. She joined the university in the current academic year after 24 years of clinical practice across hospital, rehabilitation, home health, and school district settings.
Her educational foundation includes a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Baylor University, complemented by Texas state licensure and ASHA's Certificate of Clinical Competence. Her professional focus centers on clinical speech-language pathology with specialization in language acquisition disorders, literacy development interventions, and cross-setting therapeutic applications across medical and educational environments.
Rebecca integrates faith-based principles into her pedagogy, mentoring students as they pursue professional callings in speech pathology. Her clinical leadership at the William B. Dean Center emphasizes practical training through direct patient care services within the university's language and literacy development framework.
