Rebecca Schmid is an independent scholar, music writer, and culture journalist holding the rank of Lecturer at IES Abroad Vienna. She has additional teaching experience at the University of Torino, Donau-Universität Krems, and the Great American Songbook Foundation. Her research focuses on 20th-century music, media studies, and the interplay between composers such as Weill, Blitzstein, and Bernstein. She contributes program notes and moderation for institutions like the Cleveland Orchestra and Salzburg Festival, and her work appears in Financial Times, Opernwelt, and Gramophone. Schmid holds a PhD in musicology and media studies from Humboldt University of Berlin, with further education at Brown University, University of Vienna, Syracuse University, and Free University Berlin.
