Professor Rebecca Randell is a Visiting Professor at the University of Leeds' School of Healthcare, with expertise in health IT design, qualitative research, and realist evaluation. She holds a BSc in Software Engineering (Durham University) and a PhD in Human-Computer Interaction (Glasgow University). Her research explores how healthcare professionals interact with technology in clinical settings, focusing on teamwork dynamics, dashboard implementations, and patient safety. She has led NIHR-funded projects including QualDash and a realist review on networked IT's impact.
Education: BSc (Hons) Software Engineering (Durham), PhD Human-Computer Interaction (Glasgow).
Research interests include medical handover processes, histopathology workflows, and the social implications of health IT. She chairs the EFMI Human and Organisational Issues in Medical Informatics working group and serves on the NIHR HS&DR Researcher-Led Panel.
Grants: NIHR HS&DR funding for QualDash (clinical audit data tool) and robotic surgery teamwork evaluation. Awards include the 2004 Diana E. Forsythe Award for informatics/social science intersection.
Labs/Teams: Active in multidisciplinary healthcare IT innovation collaborations, including work on virtual reality microscopes and quality dashboard systems.
