Rebecca Murphy serves as a Senior Research Clinician and Honorary Clinical Psychologist at the University of Oxford's Department of Psychiatry, where she directs the Centre for Research on Eating Disorders at Oxford (CREDO). She holds an NIHR Clinical Doctoral Research Fellowship and maintains clinical affiliation with Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust.
Her research centers on enhancing accessibility of evidence-based treatments for eating disorders, particularly through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy-Enhanced (CBT-E). Early work investigated mediators of change in psychological treatments, while recent efforts focus on scalable therapist training systems and digital dissemination. Funded by a Wellcome Trust Strategic Award, she developed a CBT-E training website and therapist competence assessment tool. Current flagship work involves Digital CBTe—a self-help platform delivered via web and mobile applications for community-based eating disorder treatment.
Publication trends reveal three thematic clusters: (1) Digital intervention evaluation through lived-experience lenses, (2) Consensus-building for treatment targets using Delphi methodology, and (3) Therapist competence measurement development. These reflect her dual focus on treatment innovation and implementation science within eating disorders.

As CREDO Director, Murphy leads cross-functional teams integrating clinical psychologists, digital developers, and lived-experience experts. Her grant portfolio emphasizes translational research—from developing role-play competence measures to piloting autonomous digital therapeutics. Current work bridges clinical psychology with digital health implementation science to reach underserved populations.
The CREDO team operates within Oxford's Department of Psychiatry, collaborating closely with NHS trusts to translate research into real-world practice. Ongoing projects include optimizing Digital CBTe's user experience and validating implementation frameworks for community settings.
