Rebecca Marie Reck

Dr. Rebecca M. Reck is a Teaching Associate Professor and Associate Head of Undergraduate Programs in the Department of Bioengineering at the Grainger College of Engineering, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. She holds a Ph.D. in Systems and Entrepreneurial Engineering (2016) from UIUC, with prior degrees in Electrical Engineering from Iowa State University (2010) and Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology (2005).

• Research Focus: Experiential learning in STEM, inclusive pedagogy, alternative grading systems, and accessible instructional laboratories
• Leadership: Founded the Lab and Design Community of Practice (2021), serves as IEEE Program Evaluator, and chairs SWE's Women in Academia Committee

Her recent publications focus on post-pandemic educational adaptations, inclusive lab design, and innovative assessment methods. She has secured multiple grants for educational initiatives related to entrepreneurial mindset development and inclusive engineering education.

Dr. Reck actively mentors graduate students preparing for academic careers through the SPARK Faculty Program and has served as a Faculty Advisor for student organizations. Her work bridges engineering education research, faculty development, and digital pedagogy tools including MATLAB, Simulink, and Google Apps.
