Rebecca Malby is a Visiting Professor in Adult Nursing and Midwifery at London South Bank University (LSBU), where she serves as Professor and Director of the Health Systems Innovation Lab. She leads the national Universal Healthcare Network and key Primary Care Development initiatives, including the Primary Care Networks Academy, in collaboration with Modality and the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP). Her career spans leadership, research, and innovation in health systems across the NHS and international contexts.

Her research interests focus on health systems innovation, coproduction, primary care networks, and leadership development. She has pioneered the first UK place-based MA Strategic Clinical Leadership programme using the Apprenticeship Levy. Her work emphasizes citizen engagement in care design, particularly in Long Covid, Safe Waiting, and Virtual Access programmes.
The recent publications highlight a strong trend in organizational innovation within primary care, inter-organizational collaboration, and leadership development during crises like the pandemic. Her work bridges theory and practice, using empirical studies and policy-driven reports to influence healthcare delivery models in the UK and beyond.

Rebecca Malby has advised numerous high-impact organizations including the RSA Future of Health and Care, the Health Foundation, the European Cancer Concord, and the Cabinet Office. She has held leadership roles in the NHS, the King’s Fund, and the University of Leeds. She leads research grants and initiatives focused on coproduction, social prescribing, and digital health transformation, often in partnership with government and non-profit entities.
She leads the Health Systems Innovation Lab at LSBU and is the LSBU lead for SC1, the health science district in South East London. Her lab focuses on developing new models of care through citizen partnership and systems thinking.
