Rebecca L. Schneider is an Associate Professor in the Department of Natural Resources and the Environment at Cornell University’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS). Her research focuses on integrated water resource management, climate change impacts, and ecological restoration. She leads studies on roadside ditch networks’ effects on flooding, droughts, and water quality, as well as soil organic matter restoration in wetlands and terrestrial systems. Schneider bridges theory and practice through extension programs addressing sustainable watershed management and aquatic weed control.

Her work includes a successful undergraduate course on ecological issues in water management and collaborations with students and institutions. She has secured grants such as a 2024 $1.6M land-grant initiative for New York’s farms and communities. Schneider also contributed to the documentary Bloom: The Toxic Threat to the Finger Lakes, highlighting her engagement with public outreach and environmental advocacy.
