Ryan Jackwood

Ryan Jackwood is an Adjunct Professor at Lipscomb University's Institute for Sustainable Practice. He specializes in watershed restoration, biogeochemical processes, and contaminant transport in aquatic ecosystems. Dr. Jackwood holds a B.S. from Ohio State University and an M.S. and Ph.D. from the University of Toledo, focusing on water quality and harmful algal blooms in Lake Erie.

His research emphasizes mitigating agricultural runoff via river restoration projects, including constructing wetlands and floodplains. Since March 2019, he serves as Watershed Science and Restoration Director at the Harpeth Conservancy in Nashville, TN, overseeing science-based programs and restoration strategies. He also sits on the board of the Tennessee Stormwater Association since 2020.

Restoration Projects: Led multi-million dollar projects to reduce sediment, bacteria, and nutrient runoff in Lake Erie tributaries. Collaborates with organizations to integrate ecological and engineering solutions for sustainable water management.
