She holds a B.A. from Davidson College (2000), an M.F.A. from the University of Notre Dame (2005), and a Ph.D. from Florida State University (2010).
Stafford's research focuses on poetry, creative writing, gender studies, fiction, and creative nonfiction. Her work explores contemporary relationships, gender roles, marriage dynamics, and cultural constructions through both theoretical and creative lenses. She approaches these subjects with a distinctive voice that combines intellectual rigor with accessible language, often employing wit and irony to examine complex social phenomena.
Her scholarly output shows a clear trajectory toward increasingly nuanced examinations of contemporary relationships and gender dynamics. Recent publications demonstrate her evolving focus from traditional poetic forms toward more experimental approaches that interrogate modern cultural constructions, particularly around marriage and gender expectations. Her work consistently appears in top-tier literary journals and has been recognized by prestigious anthologies.
