Rebecca Harris is a Lecturer in Research Methods at the University of Southampton's Department of Social Statistics and Demography, Faculty of Social Sciences. Her research focuses on violence and mental health, particularly in low- and middle-income countries, with emphasis on domestic abuse, adverse childhood experiences, and global health inequalities. She has held a UKRI ESRC Interdisciplinary PhD Studentship (2020) and completed a Home Office policy internship (2022). Her teaching roles include coordinating modules such as DEMO2015 and RESM1001.
Rebecca holds a BSc Psychology (Distinction) and MSc Foundations of Clinical Psychology. She previously worked on projects like the Leverhulme-funded 'MaGMap' and GCRF's 'ReGHID,' addressing mass grave mapping ethics and migrant health. She volunteers with Movember and co-founded Public Health Pathways' training initiatives.
Her research interests span violence prevention, policy interventions, and mental health outcomes. Key awards include the 2022 Arts & Humanities Doctoral Showcase Award and 2024 ISPCAN Global Ministerial Conference recognition. She actively participates in interdisciplinary collaborations through the Centre for Global Health and Policy (GHaP), organizing regular research discussions.
