Dr. Rebecca Grant is a Lecturer in Biometrology at the Wolfson School, Loughborough University, focusing on healthcare measurement systems, human factors, and diagnostic technologies. She holds an MEng (1st Class) in Product Design Engineering from Loughborough University (2010-2015) and a PhD in Biometrology from the same institution (2015-2019), sponsored by GlaxoSmithKline and LGC Group. Her research explores operator data analysis subjectivity in Flow Cytometry and translational challenges in healthcare measurement.
Education:
- MEng (Product Design Engineering), Loughborough University, 2010-2015
- PhD (Biometrology), Loughborough University, 2015-2019
Research Interests: Biometrology applications in healthcare diagnostics, human factor implications in measurement systems, and smart resource management for food waste reduction. Her work bridges laboratory research and industrial collaboration, such as developing a food waste dashboard during her Research Associate role at the Centre for SMART (2019-2020).
Awards:
- IMechE Visionary Postgraduate Research Scholar (2015-2019)
- IMechE '35 under 35' rising star (2019)
Other Contributions: Advised on translational healthcare measurement challenges via a secondment at MIT. Active in promoting gender diversity in engineering, co-founding Loughborough’s first female engineer careers fair through the Women’s Engineering Society.
