Rebecca Franzen

Rebecca Franzen is a Professor and Director of the Wisconsin Center for Environmental Education at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, College of Natural Resources. Her work spans teaching, research, and leadership in environmental education and community engagement.

• Ed.D. in Curriculum and Instruction (Specialization: Science, Social Studies, and Environmental Education Integration), Northern Illinois University
• M.S. in Human and Community Resources (Emphasis: Adult Education), University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point
• B.S. in Resource Management (Minors: Biology, Camp and Youth Agency Administration), University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point

Her research focuses on pre-service teacher education in environmental education, environmental literacy, and professional development of educators. She also explores place-based education and community engagement strategies.

Rebecca Franzen is recognized as a Global Affiliate Scholar in educational sustainability. She serves on the Institutional Review Board and contributes to professional accreditation initiatives through the North American Association for Environmental Education.

As a director and educator, she emphasizes natural resources leadership, interpretation, and graduate-level pedagogy. Her teaching covers foundational environmental education, methods, and investigative approaches to environmental issues.
