Cathy Scheder

Cathy Scheder is a Lecturer at the School of Education, University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, with roles extending to the College of Natural Resources (2016-present) and College of Professional Studies (Assistant to the Dean for Graduate Programs and Outreach). She contributes to the Ed.D. in Educational Sustainability program and serves as a Global Affiliate Scholar.

Her research focuses on Youth Development, Organized Camp, Non-formal Education, and Justice/Diversity/Equity/Inclusion (JDEI), with a strong emphasis on educational sustainability. She co-authored a presentation on transformative learning and sustainability change agents at the 2024 International Transformative Learning Conference.

Notable awards include the 2017 Academic Staff Excellence Award at UW-Stevens Point and the 2024 American Camp Association's Pioneers of Camping award. Her work in youth programs and sustainability education has been recognized nationally.

Cathy advises the Wisconsin Camps Student Organization (2011-2016) and holds leadership roles in UW-Stevens Point governance bodies, including Chair of the Graduate Council (2022-present) and Diversity Task Force (2016-present). She is actively involved in professional memberships with the American Camp Association and Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics.
