Dr. Rebecca Farrington serves as Associate Head of Undergraduate Medicine at the Medical School. Her academic career includes roles as a General Practitioner (Brooklands Medical Practice) and GPwER (Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust). She holds clinical qualifications from the University of Dundee (MB,ChB, 1990) and University of Liverpool (Diploma of Tropical Medicine, 1995), alongside a PGCert from the University of Manchester. In 2024, she was awarded Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
Her research focuses on medical education, healthcare access for vulnerable populations, and clinical reasoning. Notable work includes studies on healthcare professionals' experiences with asylum seekers during the pandemic and curriculum design for clinical reasoning training. Recent publications emphasize ethical challenges in healthcare delivery and migrant healthcare inequities.
