Rebecca Cunningham

Rebecca L. Cunningham is Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Associate Dean for Research at UNT System College of Pharmacy. Her laboratory studies sex hormone influences on brain function across the lifespan, particularly in neurodegenerative contexts.

Cunningham's research examines how androgens and oxidative stress interact in neurological disorders like Alzheimer's disease, discovering novel androgen receptor variants involved in neurotoxicity. She investigates sex differences in responses to chronic intermittent hypoxia modeling sleep apnea, with work published in American Journal of Physiology and Biology of Sex Differences.
