Paula E. Gregory

Paula E. Gregory serves as Professor and Associate Dean for Faculty and Educational Development at the University of North Texas Health Science Center's College of Biomedical and Translational Sciences. With 30+ years of experience in cancer genetics research and educational program development, she directs major NIH-funded training initiatives and previously held leadership roles at NHGRI and Ohio State University.

Her educational background includes:

• B.S. in Biology, University of Southern Mississippi (1977)
• M.S. in Cell Biology, University of Southern Mississippi (1979)
• Ph.D. in Cancer Cytogenetics, Tulane University (1988)
• Postdoctoral training in Cell & Molecular Biology at University of Alabama at Birmingham (1986-1990)
• Postdoctoral training in Genetics at University of Michigan (1990-1991)

Dr. Gregory's research focuses on hereditary cancer predisposition mechanisms with significant contributions to genetic education infrastructure. She pioneered large-scale training programs including NHGRI's Summer Internship Program (processing 2,000+ annual applications) and developed NCI-funded cancer research experiences for medical students and high school educators. Her work bridges laboratory research with systemic educational pipeline development.

As principal investigator, she has secured multiple NIH grants including:

• NCI R25 for medical student cancer research internships
• NCI R25 for high school cancer education programs
• NHLBI/NIDDK/NIAAA T35 awards supporting medical student research
• NCI P20 Cancer Research Education Program for underrepresented minorities

She currently co-directs Tulane's MSCR program and LACaTS Professional Development Core while expanding faculty development initiatives in her associate dean role.
