A/Prof Rebecca Colvin is an Associate Professor & DECRA Fellow at the Resources, Environment and Development Department within the ANU Crawford School of Public Policy. She specializes in the social and political dimensions of climate policy and energy transition, focusing on conflict dynamics among diverse stakeholders. Her work employs social identity theory to analyze conflicts around wind energy, coal, and regional development in Australia.
Colvin holds a Bachelor of Environmental Management (Honours) from The University of Queensland (2012) and a PhD from the same institution (2017). She leads two major Australian Research Council-funded projects: a Discovery Project on unconventional climate advocates’ influence on public opinion (2022–2025) and a DECRA Award exploring community-led dialogue in coal-producing regions (2023–2026).
Her research interests include energy transition in regional Australia, social identity theory, and community engagement strategies. She teaches climate policy communication and has editorial roles at Environmental Research Letters. Colvin regularly contributes to media discussions on climate and energy issues, emphasizing the intersection of policy, equity, and social dynamics.
